Hey, basically what was done is i got the Shepard fairey print, loaded it up in CS, and turned it B&W and made it 3 shades. With the darker shades the ones’ you cut the deepest, and white being the one u leave alone. From there, i just used an exacto knife, and cut each layer to a certain depth, lighting the pumpkin every few cm of cutting to see how it looks. then after i felt it was close enough to being done, i kept it illuminated with for the last half hour of cutting so i could really make sure the shading was right.
How long did it take you? For the lighter shades, when you cut in only so deep, did you scrape the top off? Yours is the best and most beautiful! We love it. BTW, where did you find the picture?
It took me 8hr from the moment i started creating the stencil, to the moment the pumpkin was done. I’ve got lots of info and more pics of it on flickr for anyone wanting to learn more. http://www.flickr.com/photos/aidenag/2956314276/
where did u get the picture and can you explain how you cut the pumpkin? did you just scrape the pumpkin or cut out the pieces?
Cheryl
